Host Family and Volunteer Tour Guides Needed for San-Francisco-Osaka Sister City Association

Each year the San Francisco-Osaka Sister City Association hosts one university student from Japan for three weeks. As part ofAmbassador Fujisaki’s initiative to connect JET alumni chapters with their sister city organizations, JETAANC intends to participate on projects that will strengthen ties with SFOSCA as well as benefit Japanese communities. The first project we hope to assist with is the host student mentioned above. This year a university student by the name of Ms. Mariya Wada will be arriving late August and staying through early September. As you can imagine, she’s very excited to visit our beautiful state!

Ms. Wada has been paired with a host family for the duration of her stay with the exception of Labor Day weekend. This is where we look to you, our wonderful network of alumni, for help.  We are seeking a host family from August 31st — September 2nd. If you recall your host family experience as fondly as I do, this may be a great chance to provide a young, excited individual the same opportunities provided to yourselves!

To those interested in hosting, please note that she is allergic to cats. In addition, since she will be commuting to San Francisco for internship opportunities, access to BART or MUNI will be essential.

For those who would like the chance to meet Ms. Wada but are not in a position to host, we are also looking for individuals interested in showing some Bay Area highlights to Ms. Wada. More details with regard to activities will be sent separately once we finalize the details of her stay. Please stay tuned!

Should you have further questions, please feel free to email me at sf-osaka@jetaanc.org.

Best Regards,

Vanessa C. Young
