Andrew (Drew) Esterline was an ALT in Numazu, Shizuoka 2014-2017, teaching for a combined junior and senior high school. Living and working in Japan was a dream of Drew’s since childhood, which led him to get an undergraduate degree in Japanese and English as a Second Language. He enjoyed the experience on JET so much that he stayed two more years in Japan, working at a private English conversation school in Fuji, Shizuoka.

After his return to the States, Drew served as the Events Coordinator for the Great Lakes chapter of JETAA. In 2021, he moved to San Francisco to start his graduate degree in Asia Pacific Studies at the University of San Francisco. Drew also serves as a Board Member of the Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association.

As part of the Executive and Activities Committees, Drew is excited to support JETAANC’s leadership in chapter management, as well as bring fresh and exciting ideas for ways to engage chapter members and Friends of JET.
