CAJLT
Sake-Tasting Fundraiser
WHEN:
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2002 TIME: 6:00 - 7:30 PM (Registration:
5:30 - 6:00 PM)
PARTICIPANTS:
Maximum 80 people; no minors allowed
COST:
$20.00 per person Tax-Deductible Donation Requested (The generous
people at Nakura Tansu Gallery have also agreed to offer attendees
a 15% discount on items purchased during the fundraiser!)
WHAT:
Come
for an extraordinary opportunity to experience the wide range
of flavors and styles of Japanese sake, including many labels
not available outside of Japan! This event is hosted by the
California Association of Japanese Language Teachers (CAJLT).
This special tasting will benefit the CAJLT's Japanese Culture
Festival 2003, and will feature a variety of rare Japanese
jizake (special locally-brewed sake) as well as a sampling
of a few of the high-quality sakes now being produced in the
United States. As you taste each sake and enjoy some vegetarian
sushi and other snacks, you'll have the chance to vote for
your favorite sake, browse through the traditional Japanese
furniture collection at Nakura Tansu Gallery, and enjoy its
many antique wall hangings, kaidan-dansu, mizuya-dansu and
other carefully-restored, handcrafted pieces!
This informal
event is being held to support the California Association
of Japanese Language Teachers (CAJLT) and its upcoming Japanese
Culture Festival, to take place at Mills High School in Millbrae
in February 2003. This annual festival offers 260 elementary,
middle, and high school students from around the Bay Area
the chance to take part in cultural workshops ranging from
taiko drumming to tea ceremony, and is an invaluable resource
for Japanese language teachers in the region.
CAJLT
is a non-profit organization, and your donation for this fundraising
event is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You'll
receive a thank-you letter at registration which can also
be used as a donation receipt. Unfortunately, we can only
accept the first 80 people who RSVP, due to the limited amount
of sake available.
