Act I: The Helmet Selection at Hachiman Shrine
The high-ranking samurai in Kamakura are gathered in their full regalia to receive the Shogun’s brother, who has arrived to celebrate the victory of a great battle. After he departs, the evil and lecherous Lord Morono tries to seduce the wife of the noble Lord Hangan. She rejects him outright, setting into motion all of the many and varied events that follow in the saga. (synopsis)
