Classic Summer Kabuki Ghost Story in San Mateo – Kasane, 8/7

Oh my goodness, the San Mateo Kabuki Club (Kabuki Kai) is screening a good one on August 7! They will be showing a video of Kasane, the classic ghost story. (Long title is Iromoyo Chotto Karimame, synopsis.) A great cast, too: Ichikawa Ebizo as Yoemon and Ichikawa Kamejiro as Kasane! Filmed at the Konpira-za Theater in Shikoku’s Kagawa-ken.So come out for some classic summer Kabuki chills and thrills!

The screening is on Sunday, August 7 at 1:30pm at the San Mateo Japanese American Community Center, 415 S. Claremont St., San Mateo, CA (near the San Mateo Caltrain station). The video will be shown in Japanese, with an introduction and synopsis provided in English. There will be a pot-luck meal as well, so be sure to bring a dish to share!
